NSS Pro Chad Knight recently traveled to the town of Durango, Mexico to welcome in the Grand Opening of the cities first skate park. This is what he had to say about the experience.
"Durango, Mexico is one of the many new cities acknowledging the need for skaters to havr a place to skate. Considering the size of Durango, this is a huge deal for the skaters down there. It was a very nice change from San Diego. It's rare to go to a grand opening that is 100% filled with kids who have nothing but good things to say about their new park. The kids were so excited and grateful to have a place to ride, it was awesome! Not once was I asked to do a 900! The whole production was ridiculous relative to any other grand opening I've ever done. There was over 600 people there and prior to the demo we had press conference; translator and all... It felt like someone tricked them into thinking someone reallt famous was coming to town. The demo went awesome. The locals shredded with me and all of the kids left with something."
We are stoked that Chad was able to get down there and skate with kids, and we can only imagine they felt the same way. Thanks Chad, from all of us.
Johnny Lewis participates in test run of the supermoto
track at ESPN’s Navy Moto-X World Championships
Rider joins Graves Yamaha factory racers Mark Burkhart and Brandon Currie
SAN DEIGO (April 10, 2008) – Today Team Brand Moto Racing’s Johnny Lewis was asked to participate in a test run of the supermoto track at the ESPN’s Navy Moto-X World Championships. He rode the test with Graves Yamaha factory riders and AMA Supermoto champions Mark Burkhart and Brandon Currie.
The test was done to see if adjustments were necessary to the first dirt section after entering San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium from the long ramp that passes over the stadium’s seats from the concourse. The riders did six runs on the downhill ramp, including three full dirt supermoto course runs. The entire supermoto course is approximately 50% dirt, 50% asphalt with the paved section circling around the pit areas in the Qualcomm parking lot. The three riders did not test the asphalt section today.
“I jumped at the chance when asked to do the test run with Mark and Brandon,” said Lewis who will participate in the ESPN supermoto qualifier on Friday.”That is a super steep downhill ramp leading into the stadium and the technical dirt section. The supermoto final on Saturday will for sure be determined by the riders who can be perfect the technical dirt sections and push it on the asphalt. I am confident that we have a shot at making the show Saturday on my DRD Yamaha.”
The Navy Moto-X World Championships kick off Saturday morning for the public at Qualcomm Stadium. The supermoto competition is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time and televised on ESPN at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
